Jul 21st 2021 · Day 202
Start by reading...
When strengthening others in the midst of their battles my encouragements are always ‘pray, seek God for His word, lift up your hands and give thanks’.
I’ve learned that in the midst of all troubles, to prevail against an enemy, we give room to God to fight in our place and then reign victorious with Him.
In 2 Chronicles 20:12, we read: ‘O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.’
With the armies of Moab and Ammon poised against Judah, King Jehoshaphat had no resource to fight them and he feared. His response? He set himself to seek the Lord; he called for a fast, a call to prayer. He declared in the middle of his trouble, a God in heaven who rules over all kingdoms, where none could stand against His power and might. Then the word of the prophet Jahaziel came to him, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God's’ (v. 15).
Our battles may be different – sickness, rebellious teens, a broken marriage, joblessness, temptation and sin – but we share together a God who fights for His own.
When fear raises its head, remember the battle belongs to the Lord. Our response, like Jehoshaphat’s, should be fasting, prayer, declaring God’s goodness and power. God destroyed Judah’s enemies without them needing to lift a sword. God fought for Judah. Let Him fight for you!
Pause and reflect: What is the battle in your life that you need to let God fight for you? What is one step you can take today to give Him room?
