Start by reading...
David’s words in Psalm 19 are beautifully written. Today, as we journey through the Bible together, the theme of creation is a major focus.
God is revealed to us in the Bible as the creator of all things and even of time itself. The words, ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth’ (Genesis 1:1) make a theological point, that God alone is the architect and instigator of all things. Creation is not the result of random chance. God is behind, around, under and over it all. He holds it all together (see Colossians 1:17). This reassures me today that nothing you or I will ever go through will catch Him unaware. This helps me trust God.
David’s poetic declaration reinforces the truth that creation reveals the Creator and that the Creator is always creating. David tells us of the importance of truth in the process. We are told that God’s truth is ‘perfect … sure … right [and] pure’ (Psalm 19:7-8) and that it has the power to convert the soul, make the simple wise, cause hearts to rejoice and enlighten our eyes. This reminds me that God is deeply and personally acquainted with me and longs that I fully surrender to His process.
Finally, let us not forget that at the heart of the creation narrative itself is the Word of God. When God spoke the world into being, light burst into a dark and barren expanse, stars were flung into the skies, night and day followed the order He set. Everything obeyed His command.
Then He formed humans.
Created and made in His image.
We were granted the ability to choose who and what we will worship.
Pause and reflect: Will you make the choice to follow and obey Him this year?
