Sep 10th 2021 · Day 253
Start by reading...
The year that I got engaged I changed jobs. I worked for this new company for ten months, and within that time bought a house and got married. But I struggled with my job. So, as you can imagine, it was a pretty chaotic time in my personal life. Even though I trusted God in my situation, it was still tough having to go through it.
Today we read in Isaiah 41:10, ‘fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.’
We are reminded that when we find ourselves in a tough season we should not fear; God will strengthen us throughout every situation.
But even when we read these words in Isaiah 41, we still find it difficult to trust God sometimes, don’t we? I’ll be honest – when I was in that job I struggled with trusting God at times; I felt that my situation was never going to change. I knew that in order for it to change I had to keep pressing into God, keep reading His Word, praying and worshipping Him through it.
On my way to work I started to listen to a song about thanking God. I knew that I needed to continue to thank God every day. Even when I felt like I had nothing to give, I would just spend my journey to work worshipping Him.
When I got a new position, I knew straight away that God had provided for me. All I had to do was trust Him.
Pause and reflect: Imagine God speaking these words over you: ‘Fear not. I am with you. Don’t be dismayed. I am your God. I’ll strengthen you. I’ll help you. I’ll uphold you.’ Spend some time thanking God for who He is, and what He has done for you.
