Start by reading...
When I have been through difficult circumstances, I have found friends a great comfort.
Good friends come alongside. They listen. They may not have been in exactly the same situation, but they empathise. It’s so good when someone understands.
It’s horrible, isn’t it, when you feel misunderstood; alone?
The fact is, though, that while we may have good friends and family members, those who care and want the best for us, there may be times when we feel let down by them. And of course, we let them down too. We’re not perfect. We’re just human. So sometimes we may feel ignored, rejected, not heard – forgotten.
But we can be assured that there is One who never forgets us; someone who totally ‘gets’ us. In Isaiah 49:15-16, God says this: ‘Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands …’ To be engraved on the palms of God’s hands – in front of Him at all times – how amazing. Even a mother’s love cannot compare to the love of God for us.
When I think about this, I think about the cross. In a sense I know I truly am engraved on the palms of God’s hands, because of the nail marks in Jesus’ flesh. They are there because of me. He took that pain, the pain of the cross, for my sake, so that anything that separates me from God can be washed away.
Jesus is the greatest Friend of all. He will never forget me – and He will never forget you, either.
Pause and reflect: Isaiah 51:12 says: ‘I, I am he who comforts you’. Imagine Jesus saying this to you now. Pour out your concerns to Him today. He has never forgotten you.
