Choose God

Oct 22nd 2021 · Day 295

Start by reading...

We read in 2 Peter 3:9 today: ‘The Lord is not slow to fulfil his promise as some count slowness, but is patient towards you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.’

I love to consider that we have free will. This is how God has made us. But with free will comes choice. Choosing how we speak, what we do, how we will react, is a great responsibility. But living God’s good way is so strengthening and peaceful. It’s wonderful to read that God doesn’t want anyone to ‘perish’, to have a lost eternity, but wants ‘all’ to come to ‘repentance’, that is, a turning away from sin and following Jesus. He is patient – thank God for that!

God has a great destiny for us. He planned it from the beginning. Humanity deviated from it in the Garden of Eden, but God’s salvation came with the arrival of Jesus, who gave His life on the cross so that we do not need to experience eternal separation from Him.

Forgiveness is such a great thing. To be relieved of our wrong ways and to turn around and join a peaceful path for life is a change worth committing to. We can listen to the voice of Jesus and live different lives as a result. We need not ‘perish’, we can receive forgiveness and great healing and restoration in our hearts and lives. To know God’s will is so reassuring. When we choose good, choose God, He backs us all the way.

Pause and reflect: Thank You, Jesus, that You are patient! Lord, today I pray that [insert a name or names of your choice] turns to You, chooses Your way, and finds Your love and freedom. Amen.
