Start by reading...
In today’s Old Testament reading we are given an amazing glimpse of future things. The language is exciting, emotive. And we see God’s shepherd will be ‘struck’ (13:7). What a picture of Jesus!
It’s interesting to read Zechariah in the light of how God will reveal Himself in and through Israel in the end times. In fact, if we check all end-time prophecy, we cannot take Israel out of the equation. Israel is God’s timepiece.
Perhaps because of the increase of troubles in the world, including the Covid-19 pandemic, we seem to be more aware of God’s prophetic words about the end times – the period when biblical prophecies are fulfilled, before the Lord returns. Have you given this much thought? Jesus is coming for His Church – His body of believers. This world, this time, is not all there is. There is a future when things will be very different. Jesus, the Messiah, will reign!
The day and hour of Christ’s return is drawing near. We need to be able to tell the time on God’s clock! But even if we feel that those days are almost upon us, the most important thing is to live for Jesus right now.
To be aware that we need to be ready for His coming, and to ensure we make every day till then count of His kingdom and His glory, is crucial, especially when we realise how many people do not yet know Him. How can we share the message of Jesus with our friends and family today?
Pause and reflect: Lord, help me to live each day for You so that I am ready to meet You, and able to share with others how good You are. Amen.
