He Lives!

Poor old Job. I feel so sorry for him, don’t you? He hasn’t got a clue why he’s going through such tough times. He doesn’t know that Satan is behind it and God is allowing it all. His friends aren’t much help, either. They don’t offer a God-insight into the problem; and that’s often what we need when we’re going through difficult times. However, God doesn’t always tell us why what’s happening is happening, so we must go on trust.

Trust that the Lord is good. Trust that He loves us. Trust that He is in charge.

We might feel heaven is silent. That’s when our faith is really tested.

Yet in the middle of his troubles, Job declares this: ‘For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another’ (Job 19:25-27). What an amazing statement of faith.

Our Redeemer lives! Whatever happens on this earth, we can be assured that the One who created everything is alive and present. He has redeemed us, bought us back, brought us into relationship with God, our heavenly Father. Sin and the enemy don’t have the last word. Jesus does.

So, if you’re going through tough times, take a tip from Job. Declare aloud that your Redeemer lives. And that when everything of this world has passed, with all its troubles and sorrows, you will see Him face to face. That’s the real future. How awesome is that?

Pause and reflect: Jesus, You are alive and one day I will see You. Lord, I choose to praise You today, my Saviour, my Redeemer, my Friend. Amen.
