Do not be Anxious

Sheila Jacobs

Feb 16th 2021 · Day 47

Start by reading...

Do you suffer from anxiety? That creeping dread, the thumping heart… your mouth feels dry… worries go round and round in your head…

What are you are most likely to worry about? Are you able to bring it to God – and leave it with Him? Or do you pray about it, and trust God with it… and then find yourself 'picking up' that worry again? Be honest!

It can be hard to let go of things that really bother us. Sometimes, we worry over small things that we think God can’t really be interested in. When we think of what’s going on in the world, we wonder, ‘Is God really concerned about my problems?’

Well, yes, He is.

In Philippians 4, we are told ‘do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God’ (v. 6). Then, what are we assured will happen? ‘And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus’ (v. 7). What an amazing promise!

If we can truly let go of our worries, big or small, and trust God to take care of them, we can know His peace. Sounds good, doesn’t it? So, why not try this:

What’s worrying you? Tell God about it.

Believe that He has heard you.

Thank Him that He is going to help you.

Ask Him for His peace, and thank Him for it.

The God of the universe, the One who made all things, and who made you has invited you to bring all your anxieties to Him. Why? Because ‘he cares for you’ (1 Peter 5:7)! Yes – you!

Pause and reflect: Do you believe God loves you, and is concerned about you? As you make requests of Him throughout the day, thank Him for His great, and personal, love for you!
