Feb 23rd 2021 · Day 54
Start by reading...
Do I dare say it? It’s the start of a new year, 2021, and we are living in what seems like a crazy and bizarre world at the moment, right? With lockdowns to vaccines to face masks to constant press conferences and the politics that come with all that. Everything in this world seems to be upside down at the moment and nothing is guaranteed or promised.
However, in the midst of all the chaos going on in this world, time and time again I have felt God reminding me of His promises. God has continuously reminded me that nothing is promised in this world, nothing is stable, but the one thing that we can put our whole faith and trust in, is His promises.
As I read Psalm 111, the psalmist declares truths about God: ‘The Lord is gracious and merciful … he remembers his covenant for ever. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations’ (vv. 4-6). These are promises for us today, too.
In this world that we are living in, there is so much fear, doubt and uncertainty. It may sometimes seem that whatever or whoever we put our trust in, we get let down or disappointed. But Jesus is saying today, ‘Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away’ (Luke 21:33).
Jesus died on a cross 2,000 years ago, so that we could stand in the middle of this chaotic world and know that we are safe, as we hold on to the promises of God.
Pause and reflect: Who are you putting your trust and hope in today? Remind yourself of the promises of God and know that you are loved, and safe in His arms.
