Feb 26th 2021 · Day 57
Start by reading...
In Leviticus 23 we read about the feast of the firstfruits. God speaks to Moses and asks for the Israelites to bring their firstfruits. In these times, giving of their harvest would have been quite a sacrifice, but God was asking the people to trust that He would provide for them.
God has called us to bring our firstfruits, too! Instead of putting God somewhere down the list of our priorities, let’s put him at the top. We need to start putting God first in all areas of our lives.
When we become obedient to the call that God has on our life, we will begin to see Him move in a miraculous way.
Sometimes when I’ve had a long week at work and I’m feeling tired, and I know that on Sunday I’ve got to lead a Kids’ Church session, I can feel that I’m not able to give my best. But I also know that on the Sunday morning, regardless of what sort of week I have had, I have to put that behind me and remember that I need to give God the best of my talents.
Proverbs 3:9 tells us to ‘Honour the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce’.
We should be giving God our best, not our second best. We should be prioritising God with our time, with our finances – trusting that God will provide – and with our talents, using them to see God’s will done.
Where are your priorities at the moment? Are you putting God first?
Pause and reflect: What might it look like for you, to put God first in all areas of your life today?
