Jul 9th 2021 · Day 190
Start by reading...
Every time I read the letters Paul wrote, I think about how encouraging he was and how he empowered people to go and preach the good news. His words refresh me and challenge me to go out and share Jesus!
We need to act and be bold in our faith to reach the lost – those who don’t yet know God – and show Jesus’ love in everything. There will be a time when people will not want to listen to the truth. We read just that in 2 Timothy 4:3-4: ‘For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.’
We have to be ready at all times to share our faith. Verse 2 says: ‘Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.’ Being wise in the words we say, and staying grounded in the truth of the Word is important.
Being surrounded by people that are helping us walk in our faith is so important, too. Listening to ‘sound teaching’ and journeying with true believers, learning from them, can help us build the kingdom, reaching those who are lost. The more we become familiar with the truth of God’s Word, and who He is, the more we will be ready to share our faith with everyone, whenever we have the opportunity.
Pause and reflect: How can you be like Paul and encourage someone in their faith today? Is there someone you could text, email, contact through social media – or even write a letter to?
